The great Utah shakeout

At 10:15 a.m. on April 19, 2018, hundreds of thousands of Utahns will “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” in The Great Utah ShakeOut, the state's largest earthquake drill ever! Tooele County School District students will participate in the earthquake drill to practice "Drop, Cover, and Hold on."

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2018

Online Kindergarten registration for the 2018-19 school year is currently open. To be eligible to enter kindergarten, your child must be at least five years of age on or before Sept.1, 2018.
To register your student go to www.tooeleschools.org, hover over the 'Families/Students' tab and choose 'Registration/Enrollment' then click on the link to register online. Please remember that registration will not be complete until all required documentation is taken to your students school. If you do not have access to the internet at home you may complete this online process at your student's school February 22nd or 23rd between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Cyprus Credit Union Teacher of the Month: Mrs. Jones at Willow Elementary

Fox13 and Cyprus Credit Union surprised sixth-grade teacher Mrs. Jones at Willow Elementary School in Tooele with a $1,000 check and the title of Teacher of the Month! Mrs. Jones was nominated thanks to her one-on-one attention to students and taking the time to recognize their unique strengths. She has been teaching for more than two decades and says she keeps coming back year after year thanks to her incredible students. Congratulations Mrs. Jones!

Dual Language Immersion application window opens Jan. 16 - March 16

DLI is a way that students learn academic content while learning another language at the same time. Utah uses a 50/50 model where elementary level students spend half their instructional time in English and the other half of the time in the target language. DLI ensures that your child will be learning Utah Core Content and will become bilingual and biliterate in a second language and English.

Safe drinking water in Tooele County Schools

Children spend a significant part of their day at school. Because of this, the faucets that provide water used for consumption, including drinking fountains, and sinks used for cooking breakfast and lunch have been tested for lead in all the schools within Tooele County School District.

Last week, the test results came back with a clean bill of health. All the schools have safe drinking water according to the guidelines established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The Choking Game

The school district received a tip that students are playing the “choking game." We are very concerned about this activity and ask that parents talk with their children about the hazards of participating in this type of "game." We want to keep all our students safe from harm and this game poses a risk to their well being.
